Cindy S. Gleason, CFP® ChFC CDFA Mediator

For over twenty years, Cindy has been coaching her financial planning clients toward wealth using a values-based financial planning strategy.   In 1997 she fell into the quagmire of contention over multiple issues in her own impending divorce.  Child custody/support, farm assets, inheritances, real estate and her financial planning business entity were all on the table, and even with her financial background it was difficult to determine what the future might hold.  She hired a colleague who had the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ designation to help as they prepared for what would be a three day trial.  She would tell you today that was a pivotal point not only in her divorce, but also in her professional life.  The vast need created by the complicated tax-related issues of many marital estates and the fear of the unknown for one experiencing the divorce process itself make for a difficult enviornment to make sound financial decisions about the rest of one’s life.

Gleason Resource Group was born as a separate and distinct entity from Gleason Financial Group, and since 2005 Cindy has continued to build both practices with the assistance of her staff.  Gleason Resource Group provides advanced divorce financial analysis to both clients and their counsel during the process of dissolution.  “Our goal in the process is to do in depth analyses in order to determine what we are dealing with in the here and now and then to extrapolate that into the future based on various settlement options to aid the client in knowing what their future is going to look like from a financial perspective.  The fear of not knowing if one will be OK financially after divorce can create great angst and impede the ability to settle,” Gleason says.

In addition to divorce financial analysis, Cindy is also a mediator and has also been trained in collaborative family law.  She has provided several continuing education programs to attorneys regarding the financials in divorce on several occasions.  And she has been fortunate to work with Kimberly Stamatelos, a top notch mediator in Iowa, co-instructing the 40 hour family law mediation training in the Fifth District of Iowa.  This experience, along with the financial knowledge and extensive continuing education she receives annually uniquely position her to work in different ways that can help to get cases settled with understanding and education.

Cindy is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant, a Chartered Financial Consultant, holds both Series 7 and 63 licenses, and is licensed to provide life, accident and health insurance in Iowa.

Cindy is also one of just a handful of Certified Divorce Financial Analysts™ in the state of Iowa and provides advanced financial analysis for individuals contemplating or entering the divorce process. She is also a trained Mediator. These services are separate and distinct from Gleason Financial Group and only available through a separate organization known as Gleason Resource Group.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S. which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
